This work began with something I did not have.
For a long time I moved through rooms without understanding how they worked. I could feel the structure, who held authority, where influence concentrated, how access was granted or withheld, but I could not name it, and I did not yet have the language or the framework to see what was actually being designed around me.
That changed through years of working inside environments where structure was not optional.
In continuity of operations planning for federal agencies, I learned that clarity of roles, decision authority, and coordination are not administrative concerns, because they determine outcomes. In combat medicine, I learned that decisions unfold through continuous observation and action, and that there is no time for ambiguity because structure either exists or it does not, and the difference is always consequential. In live event production I encountered a different kind of precision, the sequencing of experience and the way timing shapes how people feel and what they remember. In consulting and operations management I kept returning to the same questions: who owns what, how does information move, and where does the environment support the work and where does it resist it.
The clearest understanding of what intentional gathering actually feels like did not come from federal systems or live production. It came from my own table.
For as long as I can remember, curation and hospitality have come to me as a natural extension of my love for the people in my life, and the care I bring to every detail, how people move, how they feel, how they connect within a space, was never a professional exercise. It was personal, and it remains an expression of something I can only describe as soul. Ziggurat did not create that instinct. It gave it a framework.
People make different decisions when they are informed, and they participate differently when they are comfortable and understand who holds authority in the space and what their own role within it is meant to be. Intentional gathering is a discipline that can be practiced, designed, and restored, and Ziggurat exists to do exactly that.
